Arthur's Motivation

Arthur Ashe: Breaking the Color Barrier In Tennis 1-70

Arthur had his good friend Robert Johnson who was laer known as the greatest African American tennis player,to train and put him on the right path to fufill his dreams. He helped him by putting him in tournaments at a young age to get him at a competitive level and ready for competetors of all skill levels. He even got him into special tennis institutes to imnprove his skills. People like Althea Gibson and Reginald Wier were also influences on Arthur as they were two African American tennis players before his time. The most important motivation that Ashe had was his familys'. His father could have been the most supportive person in his household. He paid his way to schools that would help his skills and knowledge. Arthur was devastated when his father died. It made him more focused on his dream to be the best black tennis player there was. He did it all for his father.
